Honoring the Chinese Dragon Boat Celebration

Aside from Jet Li, green tea, and Jackie Chan, the world soon embraced the Chinese culture because the rare belief and system. The Chinese have created incredible fields of wonder through acupunctures, tickled our delights with Chinese noodles in a box, and delighted the whole globe through the Great Wall of China. But more discovery and interesting tales await you when you take part in one of their prolific celebrations every year -- like the Dragon Boat Festival.

The Dragon Boat Festival in China is a special event to honor a great man they call Chu Yuan. Chu Yuan used to be a scholar who deliberately drowned himself in the water after the emperor neglected to listen and follow his guidance. He was so vigilant and patriotic that he took a dauntless lead to express his vehement disapproval even to a royalty. The Chinese people cared so much for Chu Yuan, that even after a failed attempt to release their leader, they threw in rice dumplings so the fish won't harm Chu Yuan's body. The practice later became an annual celebration attended by people who really believed in his ideals.

On the day of festivity, diverse teams battle through boat races. The drumbeat then signals the intensity of power and harmony among contenders who continue to row up to the finish line. To ward off the evil spirits, the Chinese also hang herbs and ornaments on front doors and quell their thirst through beneficial beverages. If you can make the egg stand on its own at 12 noon, Chinese creed says that you'll have a flourishing year ahead.
