Prominent Yao Deserves Positive Reception

It is a well-known fact and without a doubt that the entry of Yao Ming in the NBA is one of the biggest triumphs of Asians in sports history -- considering the fact that there are only a few players who are given the chance to play in the principal professional basketball league in the world. Yao, who originates in Shanghai, China, is dubbed as one of the most assertive centers in the NBA today.

During the heated 2003 NBA All-Stars balloting, Yao overcame his equally-famous rival Shaquille O'Neal of the LA Lakers for the center position. Despite controversies that Yao prevailed because of the immense population of China, still, Yao proved his worth. In 2005, Yao beat Michael Jordan's record as the top vote-getter for an All-Star game; this supported the fact that Yao is eligible of his All-Stars inclusion. Likewise, Yao has continuously developed his performance playing alongside superstar Tracy McGrady. Now, he is dubbed as one of the major men of the Houston Rockets and with him the chances of another championship is a possibility. Undeniably, Asians, especially Chinese people, should be proud of what he has reached in the NBA so far.
